It is a long time that the Egyptian Supreme Court has rejected recognizing Baha’is officially as the official religious minority in this country.

The Baha’is of the country had asked the court to issue a verdict to obligate the government for their religion to be registered in their IDs. It has been said in the Supreme Court verdict: The Baha’ism cult isn’t a heavenly religion and the followers of this cult are atheists because the Baha’ism principles are contradicted with the basis of the religion of Islam and other heavenly religions.

In the verdict, the supreme court of Egypt has described Baha’ism related to the Colonial powers in the past and present time.

The conflict over registering Baha’ism religion in Baha’is IDs in Egypt started last April when a court Alexander city in Egypt has voted in favour of a Baha’i family asking for registering its member’s religion in their IDs and passports.

This vote caused extensive opposition nationwide and the ministry of state of Egypt opposed it. Consequently, Alexander Court vote violated reviewing and; eventually, the administrative Supreme Court announced the vote/verdict is null.

The greatest Sheikh of Al-Azhar who is the Egyptian religious source of authority has announced that Baha’ism is a deviated and profane cult.

Jamal Abdul Naser, the Egyptian leader, announced Baha’ism as an illegal cult based on Al-Azhar Sheikh’s religious decree in 1960s. This rule is here to stay.
