After hearing Bab’s claims, Hussein Khan Vali held a meeting and invited socialites of Shiraz in order to listen to Bab’s speeches and to offer an appropriate answer concerning his claims. In this gathering Bab gave his speeches having no definite beginning or end in wrong, laughable Arabic words. He became too hated and despised to be excommunicated by them.

Hussein Khan Vali ordered him to be bastinado. Then his face was blackened to be shown round the city. After that he was taken to pulpit in a mosque in order to repent against people.

The chief mullah for Friday prayers in Shiraz asked about Ali Mohammad Bab Shirazi’s claim and Bab answered:

Ali Mohammad Shirazi ascended a pulpit on Friday and said:

Curse upon a person who considers me as the deputy of the hidden imam.

Curse upon a person who considers me as the gate for achieving the hidden Imam.

Curse upon a person who says I reject God’s unity

Curse upon a person who says I reject the Excellency prophet’s (P.H.) prophethood

Curse upon a person who says I reject the divine prophets

This event happened in 1261 lunar calendar and after that event Bab stayed at home. After a while, he forgot those contempt in the pulpit. Thus Bab’s story dispersed all the cities… .
